EMERGE 2018
The very first EMERGE conference transformed an old factory building on one of the most hip streets in Minsk into a global Silicon Valley spirit tech hub for 2 days. The launch event gathered more than 1,600 makers and doers in tech, becoming the startup festival of the whole New East region.
EMERGE festival is an indie-conference, co-founded by Alina Nilsson and Margo Lazarenkova. It is the international tech event designed to unite the startup scene of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (region also known as the New East) and to prove it to be more than just an outsource-hub for major tech companies.
EMERGE is a true meeting point for East and West. For startups, it is an opportunity to present their ideas to accelerators, investors and VCs that are willing to invest directly into early-stage startups from the New East. And for investors and media EMERGE is a chance to be the first to tap into this region and to learn about its emerging companies and ideas, – Margo Lazarenkova, organiser of EMERGE, Founder of Create IT! community (Minsk).
EMERGE 2018 – Margo Lazarenkova and Alina Nilsson, Opening speech
Startups from the New East have a distinct competitive advantage – tech skills. However, they don’t necessarily have access to funds and infrastructure for growth. We are creating a meeting place for the countries of the New East, where you can not only be inspired, but also meet investors and startups from the CIS, Europe and the USA, find partners or ideas for development – Alina Bezuglova, organizer of EMERGE, Founder & CEO Rutech (London).
